It feels like decades since the last time I did concert photography. But here we go again! Tonight in Vinha Velha I was privileged to witness a concert of David Elkabir<\/a> on the Rudra Veena. A meditative evening with classical Indian Dhrupad music.<\/p>\n

The Rudra Veena is a musical instrument that originated in India and is considered one of the oldest stringed instruments in the country. It is also known as the Been or Veena, and is considered one of the primary instruments in Hindustani classical music.<\/p>\n

The Rudra Veena is a large, fretted instrument that is sometimes played with a slide and is known for its rich, resonant sound. It has a deep, soulful quality that sets it apart from other stringed instruments, making it a popular choice for Indian classical music. The instrument is typically played solo, but it can also be used as an accompanying instrument in ensemble performances.<\/p>\n

The Rudra Veena is believed to have been created by the ancient sage Narada, and it is named after the Hindu god Shiva, who is also known as Rudra. The instrument has a long and rich cultural history, and it continues to be an important part of Indian classical music today.<\/p>\n
